Wed Oct 31
It was Halloween. We had class really early in the morning, which was no fun. So we came back and took a nap before going to Camden Market to look for costumes. Then we had a costume party with our group. It was fun.
Thurs Nov 1
I went to see "The 39 Steps" which was a play with four actors playing multiple characters and it was based on an Alfred Hitchcock movie. It was hilarious! I had a lot of fun.
Fri Nov 2
I went to the British Library. The building was so big and beautiful. This was a highlight of my trip. I got to see the Gutenburg Bible, the second oldest copy of the book of Hebrews, Da Vinci's notebooks, Sir Thomas Moore's last letter to Henry VIII, Edward VI's diary, Lady Jane Grey's prayerbook, Queen Elizabeth I's marriage and successor refusal letter, and Galileo Galilei's notebook. Shakespeare's first folio, the Blackfriar's mortgage deed, Shakespeare's sonnets, and a sketch of his new Stratford home were there.
There were writings from Jane Austen, Wordsworth, Charolette Bronte, Lewis Carroll, Oscar Wilde and Virginia Woolf.
In the music case there were original copy of manuscripts by Handel (The Messiah, opened to the Hallelujah Chorus), Johann Sebastian Bach (Fugue in A flat major), Mozart, works by Gilbert and Sullivan, Beethoven's 9th and his tuning fork, Chopin, and the Beatles.
It was absolutely amazing to see all of these famous documents!
That night I tried to go see "Les Miz" but it was sold out. So I just hung out with friends and watched some fireworks from the roof.
Sat Nov 3
We woke up really early to go to the Harrod's Christmas Parade. It was a very strange parade. I'm not sure what Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan have to do with Christmas, but there were there. At least they had 'snow' and Father Christmas. Plus we all got balloons and light up reindeer antlers. It was fun!
I came back and had group breakfast. I love group breakfast. We don't get to have meals together very often, so it is a nice treat.
Sun Nov 4
We went to church at Wembley this morning, but instead of having a sermon, the preacher asked all the visitors to leave because he was going to make an announcement to the church. I'm not sure what that was about, but I'm sure it's not good. It was very frustrating for us, especially since I hate going there for worship anywhere since I get nothing out of it and that I had to spend an hour getting there just to sit and sing horribly pitched songs for 30 minutes. I won't continue to go into church rants, but this morning was very frustrating.
